ACCOMMODATION

The Sleepout was built by Mike to appreciate the fantastic views down the Vyrnwy Valley and to the stunning hills of Mid Wales. It was hand crafted from unusual pieces of curved oak that Mike has sourced through his work as a tree surgeon; he has created a unique wooden cabin lined with herringbone brick, willow and cob-plaster, with lime washed walls and bespoke windows.

We are currently building a new cabin called the Dragon Cruck which is a timber, cruck framed building with a shingle roof, wooden gutters and even wooden hinges for the medieval doors! This will be ready for booking Spring 2018. Watch this space!

ESSENTIALS

The Important Stuff

Inside the Sleepout there is a wood burning stove which will keep you warm even on the coldest day. Wood is supplied from Mike’s work as a tree surgeon.  This is a place for peace and quiet, to enjoy the outdoors but with warmth and comfort. The queen sized double bed is on a large sleeping platform at the back of the Sleepout with spectacular views down the vyrnwy valley. It has a small ladder to get to it. There are candles in lanterns and solar lights, as well as the glow from the fire, to light the cabin. This is camping, but luxurious camping!

Sorry we no longer take bookings for dogs.

Cooking

The Sleepout is a self-catering retreat and we’ve crafted a separate camp kitchen just next to the cabin which has a hand-made pizza oven, as well as a double gas burner and a beautiful bespoke wooden sink. There is also a fire bowl, essential for toasted marshmallows!

Meifod is the closest village at just a mile away, and has a shop for the basics.

Facilities

There is a washing up sink at the side of the Sleepout and a compost Treebog toilet 30 paces away from the Sleepout with a view into the hills.  You are also treated to a separate unique shower pod with gas powered hot water, all towels provided.
