We’ve come here as a surprise for my 40th and what an amazing surprise it was. The cabin is beautiful and looks like something out of a fairy tale. A Sunday morning forage in west Sussex ended with a handful of chanterelles, 3 hedgehog mushrooms and one bay bolette. So whilst the forage was enough to make lunch, Tom did propose. I was whisked away to this magical place for what I can only describe as the best few days of my life. Fires, pizza, beer, wine, walks and then snuggled by the log burner. Dragon cruck will be a special place for us and we will return to make more special memories. Thankyou.

The most magical stay. More than we could have asked for or imagined. Champagne by the fire, toasting marshmallows, watching the sun set and the fog drift over the valley.. this place is truly beautiful. I brought my spoon carving tools and was so happy to see that there was a fellow soon carver in the Sunnylea shop! Highly recommend the Broniarth hill walk(no car needed). As soon as we walked up to the Sleepout we knew we were going to have a fantastic time. It’s such a warm and inviting place, truly secluded and we are going to miss it very much! Highlights include making some lush camp food, swimming in the river and going for lovely days driving through Snowdonia. We were also lucky to be here at the same time as a meteor shower, so laid out our picnic blanket and watched shooting stars , amazing! The cabin itself is stunningly crafted, with everything thought of, making it an easy and enjoyable stay, even in the rain. Thankyou both and I’m sure we will be back, won’t be easy to top!

The Sleepout is an absolutely idyllic stay! The view is breath taking, and even more amazing when you see it from the bed first thing in the morning! We thoroughly enjoyed using the outdoor kitchen, managing to perfect our homemade pizzas… and even on the last night enjoyed rib eyed steak!. We haven’t left in our car once the whole trip and enjoyed a slower pace to life for a few days. lots of chess, reading and chatting. Our dog Dixie also loved sitting on the porch and admiring the view (and sheep!). Thankyou Mike and Rach for allowing us to share this idyllic spot. We hope to be back.

We want to thank you for the most magical and warm stay in the most beautiful cabin. Most days we sat by the fire reading the Hobbit to each other, often late into the night, sadly we only finished half but look forward to returning and finishing the book one day. Finally a luxurious place to stay for us Dragons! We normally have to stay in caves or at the top of cold mountains. Dragon Cruck was a fabulous place for us to holiday. It was a gorgeous place for us to come back to after fighting Trolls, Elves and Knights in the forests surrounding us. We didn’t cheat with our fire breath and gave the pizza oven a go to much success! A tip for the next Dragons or guests is to visit Rhiwagor waterfalls at Lake Vyrnwy. We climbed to the top which was easy with our talons and wings but your human guests will be able to still enjoy its beauty from the bottom. Thank you for being Dragon friendly! We will be back!

Fabulous four nights in the Sleepout to welcome in the new year. The weather was dry with 2 sunny days. Good walk and views over the hill and another by the river. The Sleepout is magical, the best glamping we have been to. Loved the slippers, the stove was so warm and the fire pit was great, Henry the black lab has had an amazing time too.

The first time we’ve switched off from the chaos of life for ages! We walked, read, made pizza, viewed the stars, fed the goats, chopped wood, drank wine, played Pictionary, wore slippers, talked, ate crisps, watched the sun rise and set, snuggled with candle light, had a fire pit, fed the robins, summited the hill, went at snails pace, dozed, laughed – created memories.  What a magical place!!

A Crucking good time!  This guest book says it all. But this really is the most magical place! Such an amazing build to relax and enjoy. Thank you for sharing it with us! We’ve been here 4 nights already! How can that be? The most amazing memories have been made here and for that we thank you again. Wow what a place!  My husband and I had been looking for somewhere to turn off from the stresses and strains of life and all that brings with it. It was our 20th wedding anniversary and felt a treat was needed and what a treat we got! When searching for a place my orders were ‘ I want a cabin in the woods!’ OMG this did not disappoint! I even got used to the toilet! We had yellow flood warnings the day we arrived and we got rain! Did it bother us? No! Just made us stop just what we needed to do. We popped into Welshpool for some food on the first day and had a lovely time at One Baytree Cafe, beautiful food and then not long and we were back in front of our fire spending time with just us and the Owls! On Sunday we went to the red Kite feeding centre. Mind blowing, amazing day and then we got back and Steve made pizza. Yummy too! I know we didn’t see you during our stay but you were talked about everyday! We are amazed by the quality of work. just how beautiful this place is and all the added things to find. Thank you for having us, thank you for building this, thank you for sharing this. We will be back, I left my heart here.

Loved reading many of the entries by all the happy guests that had come before us. I find it heartwarming to think how many couples have forged their own Dragon Cruck memories. When you are planning a getaway as a treat for a loved one, there is so much pressure for everything to be perfect – and lo and behold! Here it was! James and I were thrilled that it poured non stop on our first day, the perfect excuse to hunker down inside with a roasting log burner and books a plenty. When the sun finally broke through, we made the most of it with walks and lazing outside. All the little details have been appreciated. Thank you! Thank you!

Utterly breathtaking getaway. Soaked in magic and whimsy. Far exceeded our expectations. We had an unforgettable stay, this area is so beautiful. Everything at Sunnylea is magical. The craftmanship of the buildings, the fairy house beside the compost loo, the little Dragons living inside the Cruck, the Dragons eye door the Dragon feet details. everything is so thoughtful, all the little touches make this  a truly fairytale getaway. Reading the hobbit in front of the fire transported me to a land of fantasy. Being here has refreshed my soul and I feel ready to take on 2020. Thank you for everything Sunnylea. We will especially miss Ginger the pussycat greeting us every morning.

What a special place up on the sunny hillside! (even beautiful in the rain!) Had a lot of fun making pizza and watching the flames in the fire pit (though did keep forgetting to buy the marshmallows!) The Sleepout is magical as are the little bits around the place. Still can’t find the thumbs though! Thanks for all the recommendation’s -Cadair Idris was an excellent climb, especially the scramble down! If you brought your bikes would definitely recommend cycling from Lake Vyrnwy to lake Tegid. Also the book, ‘Lost Lanes Wales’ has some great cycles, really lovely book. Thanks again and hope to see you next time.

…came away to relax and walk in the woods… didn’t anticipated how beautiful the Dragon Cruck and living space would actually be. After four days gazing at it, drawing it, photographing it and stroking it were going home for a rest. Thoroughly appreciated Mike’s time in insuring we had a successful peaceful experience and Dave is still smiling from his shingle making experience. Really appreciated the sweet peas and the jug of fresh herbs in the kitchen area. We’ve spent our stay wondering what to write in here. Nothing can do this place justice. We stayed at the Sleepout for a 2 night mini-moon following our amazing wedding. Our blissful state remained as we switched off from the world at the Sleepout. It sis so peaceful and tranquil here. On our first night we fired up the pizza oven and enjoyed al-fresco dining sat around the fire pit. Tip with the pizza over, be patient, give it the time to heat up. You wont regret it! The cabin itself is something else! Mike is a genius. His craftsmanship is amazing. The infinity bed provided two very comfortable nights sleep, and that view. Wow!!!!! The baskets of games went down well. The Sleepout is the pace to switch off a relax, enjoy the scenery, wildlife and each other. We don’t want to leave and go back to reality! We are talking about making this our yearly anniversary getaway. Thank you.

What an absolutely stunning place to spend our honeymoon. It was everything we wanted and more. Beautiful scenery to match the outstanding craftsmanship. We loved snoozing in the hammock, baking pizzas, sitting by the fire and calling this a home from home. Totally heartwarming.

I awoke approximately 120cm off the floor… I usually sleep on it… to a spectacular view between a hawthorn and a birch – a valley, a welsh valley. I sat on some slate and drank my coffee and pondered… fascinating. All the best Rach and Mike from Nathan Gambling and a bunch of heating engineers to record a podcast. Remember everyone; water in the most energy intensive common substance to heat up in the known universe (with a specific heat capacity of 4.186). Therefore we owe it to the environment to get it right #solorthermalbaby!

This trip was a leaving gift from work and did not fail to blow my expectations away – a real treat! It had been lovely to stay in this amazing place! It quirky, brilliantly built and a great place to get away from it all. Things that we recommend that you do;

• Doing pizza in the pizza oven.
• Broniarth hill walk.
• Walking to the Rhiawagor falls t the top of Lake Vyrnwy.
• Taking time to enjoy the view from the loo.

Thank you Rachel and Mike, Dragon Cruck is a truely magical place. We came here for some rest, relaxation, reading and rambles, before our son arrives in July and it did not disapoint! We had so much fun – particularly with the pizza oven which we used 3 nights out of 7. It was lovely to go out exploring and then come back to a hot shower and a warm cosy cabin. Waking up with the sunrise and hearing the birds at dawn was a highlight for me. We found the wild places book very usefull and experienced  ancient ruins, hills waterfalls, forests and beaches. i dont think my words do this place justice. We have loved every second of being here! Such a beautiful, magical place. The detail that has gone into creating something so homely and cosy is amazing. From making our own pizzas to relaxing with the log burner, its been perfect. Truly beautiful!  Mike and Rachel, you have created something very special, toasty, peaceful, inspiring little refuge. We feel totally energized. Everything from the craftsmanship to the wicker basket full of games, the fire pit, deck chairs and warm blankets, the view, the sheep, the beautiful cabin fire that kept us snug throughout the nigh, the car door attached to the toilet and not forgetting pizza for lunch breakfast and dinner! Our stay has turned out to be the most extraordinary and inspiring. Waking up here has been bliss! Who knew simple tasks such as chopping firewood and washing up in your beautiful sink would be so pleasurable. If only our floors looked this good at home. We’ll miss this, cant wait to return. Dear Mike and Rachel, when James booked us this holiday, I must admit to feeling a certain amount of apprehension alongside gratitude….. sort of ‘camping’ in November???  Well it has turned out to be the most extraordinary, energizing, relaxing, inspiring of times!  You have created a renewing, warm, peaceful, refuge and we have absolutely loved it! It’s our last day and as we were sipping from our freshly made tea, looking at the amazing view, we both said at the same time: I am going to miss this place. The Sleepout cabin, outside kitchen, shower and toilet are generously made. We are extremely impressed by both the design and functionality. We have had an unforgettable GREEN weekend where we were able to enjoy nature and get a lot of peace. We climbed Snowdon which was also a wonderful experience and came back ‘home’ to have a drink and nibble in front of the fire…..Heaven! Loved every inch of this place. Where do we begin, everything about this place is perfect. You’ve truly achieved something amazing here and we can’t thank you enough for sharing it with us. Even before we’d finished our first night here we were talking about coming back. The view in the morning is breathtaking and everything is so peaceful here…even from the noisy sheep which we laughed about each morning and Conaire even tried talking back! I feel that I am now a qualified pizza chef and Conna is loving being a lumberjack! The recommended walk in the book is fantastic and  I would recommend it to everyone. Another great thing was visiting Lake Vyrnwy its absolutely stunning! The Sleepout is such a magical place! Couldn’t have been happier to celebrate my 30th here! The view from the bed is to die for, we had a go at making pizzas and I must admit they were pretty dam good! It is such a calming place and it was great being able to do nothing, just relax and enjoy the view. What a perfect location for a minimoon! It ticked all the boxes – peaceful, relaxing, away from everything and everyone. We were able to do nothing, which was what we needed after 18 months of planning our wedding. Reading, drinking tea, snoozing, making and eating lots of pizza …… what more could anybody want?! We didn’t venture out to the local sites or on any of the walks, but that makes us want to come back even more. The Sleepout is possibly the most beautiful place we’ve ever stayed. Between us we have travelled a lot! But this place is good for the soul. An amazing mix of outside, natural living and real luxury. We were amazed at the detail and thought in how its put together. Thank you for our stay and we are leaving truly rested and happy. Thank you Rachel and Mike for having us spend our honeymoon here, it was absolutely perfect – we don’t want to leave!  We have had the most relaxing time, waking up to the birds singing and the spectacular view. Thank you for creating such a beautiful space for us to enjoy. The woodwork on this place is outstanding!! Highlights have been Lake Vyrnwy, the unbelievable view to wake up to each morning, cider, bonfires and sunsets and daily visits from a baby bunny and a friendly pheasant. The weather was a bit miserable one day so we cancelled our plans and stayed at the Sleepout for the day drinking lots of tea, loading up the log burner and playing games. Rachel and Mike, what a beautiful place. The Sleepout made out honeymoon one to remember, it is so quirky, with many hidden gems although we didn’t find the thumbs! Some beautiful walks round and about and the waterfalls is a must (just ask Mike). Three days of total relaxation, listening to sheep and birds. Mike and Rachel, your attention to detail with the Sleepout was spot on. Whenever we thought we didn’t have something we found it! We made friends with the wildlife, especially a little robin who revisited us many times. We managed to cook two yummy pizzas in the oven which tasted fantastic. Sipping on prosseco looking at the views with a warm fire going was idyllic. Every part of the Sleepout was so creatively thought out and beautifully constructed.
